Tea Tree Oil

Yesterday afternoon I noticed the beginning of a big nasty cold sore at the corner of my mouth.

Last night I dabbed a drop of tea tree oil on it.

This morning I have no cold sore.

Get thee to the store, if you don’t already have some, and buy some tea tree oil.  This is amazing stuff.  It’s available all over the place now; I get mine from Trader Joe’s.  It’s antifungal, antibacterial, anti-zit, and clearly anti-cold-sore.

It’s also a good addition to diaper balms, homemade hand sanitizers,anti-acne  toners, and other concoctions; despite its very astringent smell, it’s pretty gentle on the skin.

Good stuff.

  1. Hi there-

Found you at Crunchy Betty’s blog.

You just gave more credibility to the power of Tea Tree Oil. I recently wrote a post about it called Not Nearly All You Need To Know About Tea Tree Oil. If you’re interested in reading, it’s here: http://www.freshradiantskin.com/blog/post/2772338

  2. Thanks, that’s a great post! It still blows me away that this essential oil, with SUCH a strong smell, is one that’s gentle enough to use for so many things on pretty much any age group…Someone commented on my “oh crap my dog has fleas” post from a few days ago that tea tree oil well shaken in a spray bottle with water is a great flea repellent/killer…so there’s another!

It’s just incredible stuff, I love it.

    Thanks for coming by!!

p.s. anyone who reads this and digs the anti-flea thing, by the way, DON’T use essential oils on cats! Dogs can handle them, but cats can’t metabolize something in them…

  3. swallow’s nest in an edible gel form is supposed be good for the skin too. it gives that clear and pasty skin that we all love.

it’s mad expensive. my brother and i bought some for my mom for her birthday. it was like 400 bucks for like a 6-8 oz jar. Luckily we finally found the one of popular brand online (hongkong-bird-nest.50webs.com/index_e.htm and http://www.euyansang.com/)

dad said it’s really popular in indonesia. that a guy has to climb a high mountain to get the nest. that’s why it’s so expensive.

i mean why doesn’t the dude just look for the fabled korean swallow king, capture it and let it lay eggs full of gold! then, he wouldn’t have to work so hard and climb them high mountains.
